Concept Art For Avengers: Age Of Ultron Unveils A Decidedly Different Take On The Title Villain

As part of its ongoing Infinity War coverage, CBM has dropped a slew of new concept art for Avengers: Age of Ultron. And some of it is downright creepy.

Avengers: Age of Ultron wasn’t exactly the greatest entry in the MCU, nor was it the most memorable, but Joss Whedon’s superpowered sequel still had its moments.

Between Hawkeye’s quips and the mesmerizing introduction of Scarlet Witch, Age of Ultron delivered a competent follow-up to The Avengers, and it all centered around the titular villain. Voiced by the imitable James Spader, Ultron was essentially a physical manifestation of Tony Stark’s recklessness, and it wasn’t long before his corrupt artificial intelligence began plotting world domination, ultimately leading to the showdown in Sokovia.

But what about the creative process involved in adapting a character like Ultron? Well, thanks to CBM, we now have an entire gallery of concept art illustrating the villain’s journey from page to screen. Some of the artwork is fairly creepy, too, with one particularly memorable piece showing an Ultron that’s highjacked Iron Man’s famous mask and made it his own. Chills.

Pretty cool, no? After spotlighting nearly every inch of The Avengers – concept art, alternate SDCC banners…you name it – CBM has clearly shifted the focus to Age of Ultron, and we can readily expect one or two additional media dumps in the coming weeks as Infinity War draws near.

After two Avengers movies and a full-blown Civil War, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are about to face their toughest test yet. Avengers: Infinity War is officially on the horizon, and with it comes Thanos and his Black Order, who want nothing more than to assemble all six Infinity Stones and bring balance back to the universe…whatever the hell that means. It won’t be too long before we have some answers, though, as the Russo Brothers’ titanic crossover is booked in for May 4th.
