Almost two years have passed since the great T’Chaka died at the hands of a brainwashed Bucky Barnes, and now, Marvel Studios and director Ryan Coogler have uncovered a new contender to the Wakandan throne.

His name? T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), heir of T’Chaka and the future ruler of Wakanda, one of the most technologically advanced nations on the planet. But Africa’s crown jewel exists in isolation, cut off from the rest of the world. So when the shit begins to hit the fan, and Killmonger plots a military coup, it’s up to Boseman’s newbie Avenger to set the record straight and bring peace back to the plains of Africa.

Make no mistake, T’Challa is the fearless hero of Black Panther, and with Marvel Studios set to roll out the red carpet later this evening for the film’s world premiere, Dolby Cinema (h/t CBM) has dropped a beautiful ink splatter poster that honors the king. Check it out in the gallery down below, along with some photos that recently surfaced.

And though it’s set within the confines of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Panther is not beholden to any one film – not even Avengers: Infinity War – as Ryan Coogler and his team have seemingly crafted a standalone adventure for Chadwick Boseman’s regal warrior.

It’s official: Black Panther claws its way into theaters on February 16th here in the States, and when it does, Marvel Studios will purportedly be staring down the face of an opening weekend in the region of $100M-$120M. That figure could climb higher still, as the film’s review embargo is set to lift on Tuesday, February 6th. And we’ll be bringing you all the reactions as they emerge.
