Three New Planets Confirmed For Solo: A Star Wars Story

You've heard of it, haven't you? The Kessel Run? Word is Han Solo can zip along that elusive hyperspace route in only 12 parsecs - 3.26 light-years, give or take - and if the folks at Heroic Hollywood are to be believed, Kessel, that far-flung planet first mentioned during Star Wars: A New Hope all those years ago, will crop up in Ron Howard's Anthology pic.

You’ve heard of it, haven’t you? The Kessel Run? Word is Han Solo can zip along that elusive hyperspace route in only 12 parsecs – 3.26 light-years, give or take – and if the folks at AMC are to be believed, Kessel, that far-flung planet first mentioned during Star Wars: A New Hope all those years ago, will crop up in Ron Howard’s Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Does that mean we’ll get to see the aforementioned moment where the galaxy’s greatest smuggler makes the run in record time? Quite possibly, and the outlet goes on to say that not only will the Anthology pic take us to Kessel, but we’ll also be paying a visit to both Mimban and Corellia.

The former is a swamp world that was mentioned in The Clone Wars and also appeared in Alan Dean Foster’s novel Splinter of the Mind’s Eye, published back in 1978. It’s unknown what role the planet will play in Solo, but AMC speculates that Han may be stationed there while serving the Empire. There’s also the fact that it has a huge black market, which will no doubt attract the titular hero.

As for Corellia, it is, of course, Solo’s homeworld and one of “the Empire’s most important shipyards.” As such, it’s presumed that the film will kick off here, with Han competing in a pod-race and catching the Empire’s eye, as they hope to recruit the top racers as future TIE pilots. Chalk that up as speculation, as we still know next to nothing about Lucasfilm’s upcoming Anthology movie, but it would certainly tie in with previous set photos.

Unfortunately, AMC doesn’t have any further information for us other than what we just ran through, but after months of fan theories and rumors, it does indeed sound as if all three of these planets will have a role to play in Solo: A Star Wars Story. And with that first trailer surely just around the corner now, hopefully it won’t be too much longer before we learn more.
