New Avengers: Infinity War Merch Spotlights Spidey, Iron Man And Proxima Midnight

Marvel's merch for Avengers: Infinity War brings us closer to Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America and Proxima Midnight.

For a movie that has only released a single, two-minute teaser trailer, Avengers: Infinity War has generated a staggering amount of hype.

Of course, much of that excitement can be traced back to the 10-year arc underpinning Joe and Anthony Russo’s unprecedented blockbuster – the iron-clad foundations upon which Infinity War stands, if you will – as moviegoers long to see the likes of Star-Lord, Iron Man, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, Gamora, and Spider-Man share the screen for the very first time.

History is being made, then, and while Marvel Studios is favoring a less-is-more approach with its Infinity War marketing – understandable, really, lest it overshadow Black Panther – a new fleet of Avengers toys have found their way online, which brings us closer to Iron Man, the bearded Cap, Spider-Man and Proxima Midnight, one of Thanos’ alien goons.

Proxima falls under the so-called Black Order, a pool of interstellar lieutenants comprised of Corvus Glaive, Ebony Maw, and Cull Obsidian. She certainly looks the part, too, and if, like us, you’ve watched the Infinity War trailer ten times over, you’ll notice that Proxima’s staff-like weapon appears to be awfully similar to the one hurled towards Captain America in the sequel’s teaser.

Speaking of Marvel’s estranged patriot, he’ll be caught up in the midst of an identity crisis when Avengers: Infinity War smashes into theaters, thus explaining the new shield and subsequent transition into a Nomad-like figure. Elsewhere, Iron Spider is exactly the sleek, superpowered makeover we were rooting for, while Tony Stark’s suit (Model Prime?) has already received the spotlight thanks to previous marketing tie-ins.

He’s far and away the most popular Avenger, but after Infinity War and the so-far untitled Avengers 4, we wouldn’t be all that surprised to see Tom Holland’s Peter Parker become the new face of the MCU.
