The Millennium Falcon has received a new lick of paint. And we mean that in every sense of the word.
Before the Corellian light freighter fell into the hands of Chewie and Han, the Falcon was a slick, refined space vessel that belonged to Lando Calrissian. And, well, it’s fair to say that the smooth-talking galactic operator was a little more proactive about maintenance and repairs.
Because in Solo: A Star Wars Story, Ron Howard will be peeling back the tarpaulin of a remodeled Millennium Falcon, long before it gained its reputation as the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. It’s a character in its own right, according to Howard, and we now have a better look at the ship’s design.
Last week’s episode of The Star Wars Show paid a visit to Madlyn Burkert, who’s in charge of Lucasfilm’s collections and exhibitions. Put simply, she helps archive all of the many props and costumes that have appeared in the Star Wars franchise. And if that’s not one of the coolest jobs in the galaxy, we don’t know what is. The Falcon showcase begins around the 6:50 marker.
Pretty cool, no? It’s an admittedly brief look at Lando’s ship, though we imagine we’ll learn more about the Falcon – including how its bow broke into a pincer-like design – when the lights go down in three months’ time. Last week’s Super Bowl spot did show Han Solo and the gang evading TIE Fighters and a giant, tentacled space creature while aboard the Millennium Falcon, so at the very least, viewers can expect the Corellian freighter to feature pretty heavily.
