Here’s Your Best Look Yet At Thor’s New Hammer In Avengers: Infinity War

Thor: Ragnarok saw the titular hero's trusty hammer Mjolnir turned to dust by his evil sister Hela, so the God of Thunder will be in need of a new weapon in Avengers: Infinity War. We've known for a while that the Asgardian hero would be arming himself with a pretty cool replacement - a hammer/axe hybrid called Stormbreaker - and while the likes of concept art and LEGO sets have given us a glimpse of it, this newly-unveiled Thor action figure offers up our best look at the weapon yet.

Thor: Ragnarok saw the titular hero’s trusty hammer Mjolnir turned to dust by his evil sister Hela, so the God of Thunder will be in need of a new weapon in Avengers: Infinity War. We’ve known for a while that the Asgardian hero would be arming himself with a pretty cool replacement – a hammer/axe hybrid called Stormbreaker – and while the likes of concept art and LEGO sets have given us a glimpse of it, this newly-unveiled Thor action figure offers up our best look at the weapon yet.

We previously learned that the God of Thunder would craft it himself, but the wooden handle actually comes from Groot. You can see that here, too, as the handle is long and winding like an organic piece of wood. As we know, Chris Hemsworth’s fan favorite will team up with Groot and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy in Infinity War, with the trailer revealing that Thor, Rocket and Groot will go off on their own side mission during the movie – no doubt to go looking for a new weapon.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Infinity War action figures have revealed some juicy details about the upcoming event film. The Captain America figure gave us a look at Steve Rogers’ new vibranium shield that he’ll get from Black Panther in Wakanda, while the Thanos model showed the Mad Titan in his full regalia, after the trailers so far had only displayed him stripped of his armour. Suffice it to say, there’s been a lot for fans to feast on lately.

The figure is also yet another piece of evidence that Thor will get his eye back after losing it in battle with Hela in Ragnarok. Of course, merchandise is not always completely accurate and we have been misled by action figures and the like many times before, but what we see here does seem to line up with everything we’ve heard lately and as such, we’re inclined to believe that it’s on the level.

Be sure to catch Thor and his Stormbreaker in action when Avengers: Infinity War hits cinemas on May 4th.
