To celebrate the release of Gears of War 3 going gold, EPIC has released the opening cinematic for the game. Anya gives us a voice over as she explains what has happened since Gears of War 2.

The thing with Gears of War 3 is that while I have no doubt that it will be a fantastic game, how different will it really be from Gears of War 2? There really wasn’t much of a difference between the second and first Gears game and I suspect it will be the same with Gears of War 3.

Like I said, I’m sure the game will still be awesome but it’s probably going to be just more of the same. But then again, is that really a bad thing? When it comes to Gears of War, I’d say no.

Gears of War 3 releases September 20th exclusively for Xbox 360.

Eighteen months after the fall of Jacinto, the Gears have moved to the island of Vectes and are living aboard a converted aircraft carrier called the Raven’s Nest. The government disbanded and the imulsion that powered Sera’s cities has infected and mutated members of the Locust, causing them to become Lambent. The Lambent are evolving into a new enemy that threatens both the Locust and humanity. The Stranded also live on the island along with other survivors from E-Day.
