If you’re even remotely familiar with the character of Aquaman, then you’re well aware of how he’s not the useless wimp that shows like The Big Bang Theory and Family Guy make him out to be. In fact, he’s quite badass, something that Jason Momoa has already gotten across with his scene stealing performance in Justice League.
Because of that, Arthur Curry’s first solo flick is one of our most anticipated superhero films to roll out in 2018, an excitement that was doubled upon hearing how the first audiences to have attended test screenings praised the action and emotion they witnessed. Really, if this holds up, Warner Bros. could have a Wonder Woman-like hit on their hands.
Championed as a “totally different beast” to what’s come out of the DC Extended Universe already, James Wan’s pic promises to inject some much-needed fresh blood into the franchise and if a new report from Revenge of the Fans is to be believed, we might just get our first look at it quite soon.
The outlet claims their sources have told them that Warner Bros. will finally lift the lid on Arthur Curry’s standalone outing next month, during a DC panel set to take place at Wonder Con – which runs from March 23rd to the 25th. There’s no exact date/time for the panel just yet, and the convention hasn’t released their schedule, either, but ROTF has been pretty on the ball with their intel lately, so we’re inclined to believe them.
Even if they’re wrong, though, we imagine it’s just a matter of time before the marketing campaign kicks off. After all, the pic isn’t too far away now, as Aquaman officially swims into theaters on December 21st – a release date it currently shares with Travis Knight’s Transformers spinoff, Bumblebee: The Movie, Holmes & Watson and Alita: Battle Angel, after Robert Rodriguez’s live-action manga movie surrendered its primetime summer release in favor of the festive period.
A six-month delay is a little troubling, of course, so it’ll be interesting to see how it fares against the King of the Seven, who was arguably one of the few saving graces of Justice League.
