Avengers: Infinity War Runtime Revealed, Will Be The Longest MCU Movie Yet

As we inch closer and closer to the release of Avengers: Infinity War, it's becoming more and more clear just how absolutely massive it's going to be. Acting as the culmination of the past 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - which consists of 18 movies, for those keeping track - it's got a lot to juggle, with nearly every MCU character finding themselves involved in some way and tons of loose, dangling plot threads to tie up.

As we inch closer and closer to the release of Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War, it’s becoming more and more clear just how absolutely massive it’s going to be. Set to be the culmination of the past 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – which consists of 18 movies, for those keeping track – it’s got a lot to juggle, with nearly every MCU character finding themselves involved in some way and tons of loose, dangling plot threads to tie up.

Of course, it won’t have to shoulder that task alone, as the currently untitled Avengers 4 will pick up wherever Infinity War leaves off. But between the two of them, we’ll finally get a conclusion to a decade’s worth of storylines and character arcs.

As such, it’s no surprise to now learn that the upcoming event movie might just be the longest Marvel Cinematic Universe outing yet. Though that remains unconfirmed, a Reddit user has uncovered a listing for Infinity War which puts its runtime at 2 hours and 30 minutes. If true, that would make it 3 minutes longer than Captain America: Civil War and the franchise’s longest outing to date.

Again, we haven’t heard from Marvel on this just yet, so take it with a grain of salt, but having the movie be that long makes perfect sense. It is, after all, the culmination of every single plot we’ve seen in the MCU thus far. In fact, just yesterday, we heard from Kevin Feige on that very matter, with the producer saying the following:

“With Infinity War, we’re paying off every little thread and every little tease that we’ve had in what will be 18 films prior to Infinity War. There’s never been anything like this. Being able to, film after film, tease at a larger story. Really building these stories up into a giant conclusion. While at the same time introducing an entirely new direction for the future.”

Talk about bringing the hype, eh? We’ll find out for ourselves what all the fuss is about when Avengers: Infinity War storms into theaters on May 4th. And with Avengers 4 following a year later, it’s safe to say that the MCU is about to undergo a radical shake-up, one which will change it forever.
