Entitled “Honor,” the extended episode teed up the remainder of The Walking Dead season 8 and its adaptation of All-Out War, arguably one of the most beloved storylines found among the pages of Robert Kirkman’s comic book saga.

Speaking of which, the young Carl Grimes is still alive in Kirkman’s source material, leading to some disgruntled groans among The Walking Dead community. After all, the decision to kill off Chandler Riggs’ survivor is far and away the show’s most significant departure from the comics, so it was almost inevitable that season 8’s midseason premiere would prove contentious among fans.

One thing that isn’t contentious, though, is Carl’s meandering journey on The Walking Dead, which is beautifully illustrated in the featurette up above.

Released by AMC after “Honor” aired, the video sees Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Norman Reedus, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chandler Riggs and a few others offering up their thoughts on how they feel about Rick’s son passing away and reflecting on some of the character’s more significant moments from throughout the series. Sure to bring a tear to the eye of any true TWD fan, it’s a wonderful companion piece to the midseason premiere and well worth a watch.

Though Carl has now left the series, he’ll still cast a long legacy over AMC’s hit zombie drama. Showrunner Scott Gimple has teased how crucial his death will be to the rest of the season, while Andrew Lincoln has also stated that Rick’s grief over Carl will be a major mountain to climb over the coming episodes.

All of that and more is touched upon in this featurette, and it’ll be fascinating to see how The Walking Dead moves forward from here.
