Funko Pop! Blowout Heralds A Slew Of Possible Character Details For Avengers: Infinity War

As the journey to Avengers: Infinity War continues, a series of Funko Pop! figures have surfaced online, and they include one or two possible character details.

Though it may err on the side of hyperbole, Avengers: Infinity War is arguably one of the most-anticipated Marvel movies in the history of Marvel movies.

It’s far and away the biggest film of 2018 – or so said a recent Fandango poll – which practically places Infinity War in a league of its own when it comes to marketing and hype. And make no mistake, the hype train has left the station.

With two teaser trailers already under its belt – word is a third and presumably full-length promo will be with us imminently – the build-up to Avengers: Infinity War continues to leave fans on tenterhooks, and though it’s by no means official, another batch of Disney/Marvel merchandise has found its way online today via CBM.

And of the 76-character roster, the likes of Thanos, Groot, Iron Man, Spidey and the entire Black Order – namely Corvus Glaive, Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight, and Cull Obsidian – have been given their own Funko Pop! Vinyl figure. They’re fairly unremarkable, but flick on through to the individual figurines and you’ll notice that that’s where things really get interesting.

Take Thor as an example. Marvel’s God of Thunder is presumably still reeling from the events of Thor: Ragnarok, and while Infinity War‘s initial teaser placed him in the company of the Guardians, we understand the Asgardian’s first port of call will be to find a new weapon.

Speaking of which, up above you’ll notice Thor is wielding what can only be Stormbreaker – peer close enough and you’ll notice that the handle appears awfully similar to Groot’s bark – while there’s also a sneak peek at his massive battle sword. Elsewhere, Spider-Man can be seen donning his mechanical arms, all but confirming the transition to Iron Spider. And though it’s by no means confirmed, it seems as though Spidey’s latest upgrade will be an attachment that’s placed on his back, rather than a piece of native technology that’s built into the armor itself.

Then again, this is a toy range, so it’d be foolish to draw any conclusions from Marvel’s merchandise. One way or another, though, expect to get some answers when Avengers: Infinity War lights up theaters on May 4th.
