As we approach the film’s launch on home video, the Justice League saga continues to enthrall online pundits and the DC community at large.
After all, it’s no secret that Justice League experienced a fairly difficult spell in front of the cameras, during which time Zack Snyder handed over the reins to two-time Avengers (and former Batgirl) director Joss Whedon in order to tend to a personal tragedy.
Perhaps more than anything else, it’s this midgame changeover that sparked heated debate, with fans calling on Warner Bros. to release a full, untainted version of Zack Snyder’s movie, even if there’s a good chance said cut doesn’t actually exist – not in the state viewers hope, at least. But controversy aside, what was it like to experience that director substitution on the ground level? That’s a question that Screen Geek posed to Ray Fisher (Cyborg) and Ezra Miller (Flash), to which the former said:
With two directors, we had a bit of a tough time with Zack [Snyder] having to step away from the project, and I think we all owe him a great bit of gratitude for bringing us into his version of the Justice League. At the end of the day, the best way to honor him in that sort of way is to do what you have to do and put your best foot forward no matter who is at the helm. That’s a challenge I think anyone would have faced – building a rapport with one person and then having to switch gears all of a sudden.
Adding to this, Miller spoke candidly about his own gratitude and sense of pride he took from working with “two of the most incredible directors” in the business.
I feel like we were ultimately, all things considered, immensely fortunate to work with Zack and to work with Joss. We got to work with with the two most incredible [directors] of this game. I feel blessed to have had that experience and deeply grateful.
Look for Justice League to light up Blu-ray and DVD on March 13th (pre-order here), and you can readily expect scores of extras to be included in the film’s home video release.
