New Avengers: Infinity War Toys Reveal Some Interesting Spoilers

They're cute as hell, and they finally settle months of fan speculation about Spider-Man and Bruce Banner in Avengers: Infinity War.
This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

We’re all used to spoilers for upcoming films from toys – with playsets and action figures spoiling elements of everything from The Last Jedi to Justice League. But we’re maybe not so used to these spoilers being quite so adorable.

The idea behind Hot Toys’ Cosbaby line is to produce ‘chibi’ versions of characters. Namely, giving them childish features and making them cute beyond all reason. But other than having us go “awwwwww,” this particular pair lay to rest some speculation about what’s to happen in Avengers: Infinity War. Naturally, spoilers will follow.

The two figures just announced are Spider-Man and Bruce Banner – and both confirm what fans have long suspected. The Spidey figure shows him in his armored Iron Spider form seen in the trailer, but with the addition of four metallic tentacles (Doctor Octopus must be furious that his schtick is getting ripped off). Rather than being used as blasters, the toy confirms that they’ll be used to increase Spider-Man’s already impressive mobility. Even though he’s heading into battle alongside the heavyweight duo of Iron Man and Doctor Strange, it looks as if he isn’t going to be left in the dust.

The Bruce Banner figure, meanwhile, reveals that it’s indeed him piloting the Hulkbuster Iron Man armor seen in the trailer. Last featured in Age of Ultron, this suit was designed with Banner’s help to allow Tony Stark to match some of the Hulk’s strength, speed and fury.

Word is that after the events of Thor: Ragnarok, Banner is afraid that if he transforms again he might not ever be able to return to human form. And so, using this armor gives him a way to help defend Earth without unleashing the chaotic power of Hulk onto the battlefield.

Both of these elements prove that Avengers: Infinity War is going to take familiar heroes and give them an exciting twist. Be it something like Stark’s rocket transformation, Black Widow’s new dye-job or… uh, Captain America’s sexy new beard. And we’ll get to see the whole lot in action in just a couple of weeks, when Avengers: Infinity War opens BIG on April 27th.
