With the culmination of its decade-long effort to unite Earth’s Mightiest Heroes fast approaching, Marvel Studios has made sure not to let loose any bit of news too scene stealing that will distract from next month’s gargantuan superhero event, Avengers: Infinity War.

However, superhero enthusiasts have still been treated to a steady stream of behind the scenes looks at the MCU’s newest commodity, Captain Marvel, over the past couple of weeks. While nothing too extravagant, the set photos and videos have given fans a few solid glimpses at the titular character, portrayed by Brie Larson, and Jude Law in action.

One thing that’s remained a mystery, however, about the Phase 4 project is the role Ben Mendelsohn will be playing. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight while promoting Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One, the actor refused to comment on whether or not he’ll be portraying the villain in Captain Marvel, but unabashedly praised his co-star.

“Brie is absolutely perfect for that role. Why? Because she’s a strong, yet sensitive, contemporary female. She is a champion, she’s a fantastic actress, and she’s a great human. So you can’t ask for better for Captain Marvel.” Mendelsohn said.

Mendelsohn’s comments here further solidify what was already a no-brainer casting decision. And while Marvel has made it abundantly clear that we won’t get to see Larson in the forthcoming Avengers blockbuster, that hasn’t stopped fanboys from chomping at the bit to get a proper look at the actress in action.

Unfortunately, it may be some time before that arrives, but we have no reason to doubt what Ben Mendelsohn says here and cannot wait for Carol Danvers to make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut when Captain Marvel flies into theaters on March 8th, 2019.
