Peter Quill (AKA Star-Lord) is thrust into the spotlight thanks to this brand new promo for Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War.

Now that Avengers: Infinity War is mere days away, all of Marvel’s major characters are getting their own 15 minutes of fame.

Case in point: today’s brand new promo for Infinity War (see above), which shifts the focus over to Star-Prince Star-Lord, Chris Pratt’s MCU veteran who walks the line between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

He is, essentially, the quintessential space cowboy; a character whose charisma and cockiness far exceeds his intelligence. But as James Gunn’s Guardians movies attest, Peter Quill isn’t entirely human – he is the descendant of Ego, the Living Planet, after all. Such an ancient bloodline is enough to imbue Quill with strange, supernatural abilities, so we’re intrigued to find out whether those same powers will factor into the story of Infinity War and its so-far untitled sequel.

Feast thy eyes:

Then again, we know Star-Lord and his fellow Guardians will be taking a backseat to the Avengers later this month, who set aside their differences (see: Civil War) to ward off yet another apocalypse. And it won’t be long before Peter Quill is swept up in the action once again.

He’s guarded the galaxy (twice!) and harnessed an Infinity Stone with his bare hands; but on April 27th, Star-Lord and his motley crew – namely Drax, Gamora, Rocket, Mantis and a particularly moody Groot – will be coming up against a threat the likes of which they’ve never known.

We are, of course, referring to Thanos, who is expected to cast a giant, purple shadow over theaters once Avengers: Infinity War makes its grand debut in exactly 18 days. Not that we’re counting or anything…
