Avengers: Infinity War Co-Director Warns Of Death And Heartbreak

Via Metro, Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo has warned of death and heartbreak ahead of the sequel's arrival on April 27th.

There are two certainties going into the release of Avengers: Infinity War.

For one, the war brewing between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Thanos will spill over into 2019, given the top-secret Avengers 4 is expected to bring the curtain down on this current installment of the MCU and all of its many interconnected story strands.

The other, much more unsettling truth is that no one – and we really mean no one – is guaranteed to walk out of Infinity War alive, and it’s this added sense of drama that has left the entire Marvel community on a knife-edge.

Indeed, while promoting the sequel’s arrival, co-director Joe Russo spoke to Metro about the increased stakes of Infinity War, and why Josh Brolin’s Thanos is not to be trifled with.

This is it. Thanos is an unstoppable villain he’s virtually invincible, he’s highly intelligent – genius level intelligent – he’s like the Genghis Khan of the universe, and to stop him it’s going to cost them a lot. They’re going to have to see if they’re willing to pay that price, and that’s what these movies are really about.

But it’s not all doom and gloom; as evidenced by those clips involving the Guardians and Thor, Infinity War will still carve out room for humor, and that’s something that Joe Russo won’t let people forget.

What we meant by that is to be prepared. What we want is for the audience to be prepared, as there’s a lot of surprises – there’s going to be a lot of humour and a lot of heartbreak.

You’ve been warned: Avengers: Infinity War will spell the end for some of the MCU’s biggest characters, so it’s small wonder why Marvel is enforcing a no spoiler policy in the build-up to April 27th. It’s all been leading to this, folks, so prepare to say farewell to some of your on-screen favorites.
