Just like X-Men: Dark Phoenix before it, Jessica Chastain has marked her decision to climb aboard It: Chapter Two with a cheeky social media post directed at James McAvoy.
First spotted by Dread Central, the actress, who officially clinched the role of Beverly Marsh late last week, took to Twitter to poke fun at McAvoy. He’s just entered negotiations to star as adult Bill Denbrough in the 2019 horror sequel, with Bill Hader said to be in the running for Richie Tozier.
No word on how Jessica Chastain feels about that potential casting coup, but the two-time Oscar nominee did share her thoughts on the possible addition of James McAvoy, with whom she previously shared the screen for The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. All three installments, in fact.
With Andy Muschietti and Gary Dauberman back behind the lens as director and screenwriter, respectively, not to mention the fact that the prolific Barbara Muschietti and Roy Lee have agreed to leverage producing duties between them, It: Chapter Two is fast beginning to fall into place.
And the decision to put James McAvoy’s Bill Denbrough opposite Jessica Chastain as the adult Bev is a no-brainer, really, so here’s hoping a deal falls into place.

Elsewhere on the casting docket, and proving that Chapter Two will incorporate flashbacks into the mix, the entire child cast of It will be returning for New Line’s horror sequel, including Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Chosen Jacobs and Wyatt Oleff.
Filming on It: Chapter Two is expected to begin this summer ahead of the sequel’s release on September 6th, 2019. And yes, as this is the Losers Club’s final confrontation with Pennywise, we can fully expect a deep dive into the cosmic origins of Stephen King’s abomination.
