EW’s All-New Photos For Ant-Man And The Wasp Prove Heroes Come In All Shapes And Sizes

Spare a thought for Ant-Man and the Wasp.

As we stand on the precipice, staring down at the cinematic monstrosity that is Avengers: Infinity War, Peyton Reed’s sequel has been utterly dwarfed by Avengers 3 and its suitably massive, all-consuming marketing blitz.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean that Ant-Man and the Wasp has been pushed to the wayside, as Entertainment Weekly has returned from the Quantum Realm bearing gifts – specifically, two all-new actions shots from Scott Lang’s next solo outing, along with some story intel about what that adventure entails.

In accordance with previous reports, Ant-Man and the Wasp largely centers on the duo’s quest to recover Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) from the clutches of death. On board for that sweeping adventure is Evangeline Lilly as the newly-anointed Wasp, who offered some story intel while chatting to EW:

Scott entered the Quantum Realm in the first film and came back, which is something they thought was impossible. The question has arisen, ‘Can Janet come back?’ So the entire film, my character is hell-bent on finding a way to get into the Quantum Realm and bring her back.

Casting-wise, we know Pfeiffer is simply one of the big-name additions for Ant-Man and the Wasp, which will place the titular duo on a collision course with Ghost, the enigmatic war criminal to be played by Hannah John-Kamen (Ready Player One, Tomb Raider).

Those familiar with Marvel Comics will know that Ghost was originally portrayed as a male character, though Peyton Reed is confident that John-Kamen will be able to silence the doubters in three months’ time.

The Ghost character could be male, female, anything, so it just seemed more interesting to us [to cast a woman]. Ghost’s primary power is the ability to ‘phase,’ which allows Ghost to move through solid matter. She has all sorts of strange versions of that phasing power — it proves quite difficult for Ant-Man and Wasp to deal with.

Once Avengers: Infinity War enjoys its time in the sun, raking in truckloads of cash in the process, look for Ant-Man and the Wasp to scurry into theaters in time for July 6th.
