Back in November, long before Avengers: Infinity War began to tighten its grip on the global box office, Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder (along with a little help from Joss Whedon) conjured up a superhero team-up movie of their own in Justice League.
And despite a truckload of potential, the ill-fated DC blockbuster didn’t amount to more than the sum of its parts, leaving comic book fans to wonder what could have been.
To his credit, Snyder has been pretty forthcoming about his time behind the lens, and has used social media platform Vero as a means of sharing never-before-seen shots of Batman, Wonder Woman, and their superpowered allies. The latest addition comes by way of Reddit, where Flashback FM posted an unused storyboard that places Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader in the line of fire. Feast thy eyes:
Upon first glance, it’s a little difficult to tell exactly where this story fits into Justice League. Chances are it’s lifted from the scene involving Bats getting to grips with an Apokoliptian cannon – either that, or a hand-to-hand fistfight that was ultimately left by the wayside.
The telltale sign here is, of course, the explosions in the background, which leads us to believe that this is simply an unused close-up of Gotham’s Dark Knight as he rains fire and fury down on the minions of Steppenwolf. Also of note, the showreel credits DC cinematographer Simon Firsht, with whom Zack Snyder crafted much of the eye-popping effects shots that make up Justice League.
And it’s now available to take home via Blu-ray, DVD and all of the usual digital platforms.
