Josh Brolin Raises A Glass To The Marvel Community As Avengers: Infinity War Soars

At $641 million and counting, Avengers: Infinity War continues to soar, leading Josh Brolin (Thanos) to take a moment and raise a glass to the Marvel community.

This past weekend, Avengers: Infinity War made history.

A $641 million global box office was enough to propel Marvel’s titanic tentpole all the way to the number-one spot, where it became the most successful domestic (and global!) debut of all time. That’s right, neither The Force Awakens ($248 million domestic) nor The Fate of the Furious ($542 million worldwide) stood much of a chance against Infinity War, which has blazed a path of its own all the way into the Hollywood history books, where it’ll likely remain king for a very, very long time.

All of this has prompted the Mad Titan himself, Josh Brolin, to post a heartfelt thank you message via Instagram (h/t ComicBook.com), where he took a moment to toast the Marvel community and his collaborators for delivering the “biggest opening in movie history.”

Hey guys, I just want to say that I’m completely blown away by the business that Avengers: Infinity War has done. I want to thank Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, [first assistant director] Chris Castaldi, the cast and crew of Avengers: Infinity War, and [visual effects supervisor] Swen Gillberg, who was a major part in helping create Thanos, I thought you did an amazing job.

For those who don’t know, Feige, D’Esposito, Castaldi are Gillberg are four figures who proved instrumental in the release and subsequent success of Avengers: Infinity War, with the latter two being responsible for Thanos’ incredible CGI. Towards the end of his video, though, Brolin gave thanks to the impassioned fanbase, without whom none of this would be possible.

But most of all, the fans. It’s become a global event, it’s the biggest opening in history, and that’s because of you — all the people who grew up with this, all the people that lived this since they were children. I hope that you’re satisfied with the result, because I know I am. You know, I’m blown away by the movie. I’ve seen it twice now, once with my wife and I — we snuck into a theater and saw it and really got to take it in and it was something else.

At $641 million and counting, Avengers: Infinity War‘s box office is only headed in one direction, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on the MCU epic now that its second weekend is beginning to loom.
