Michael C. Hall as the next Caped Crusader? It’s certainly not out of the question.
The former Dexter star recently sat down with Yahoo Movies to discuss his role in Safe, along with the possibility of one day taking up the mantle of Batman for DC Films.
Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Hall is throwing his name into the proverbial hat for The Batman – Jon Hamm and Jake Gyllenhaal were also rumored for the DCEU gig, before the latter ultimately bowed out of the race to replace Ben Affleck – but at the very least, it’s worth noting that Michael C. Hall is intrigued by Gotham’s Dark Knight.
He also has previous experience with Bats, having voiced the character for Justice League: Gods & Monsters. As for a live-action role? Well, it’s not off the table…
In that particular iteration of the superhero origin story, it was an alternative universe, he was a vampire. But Batman in general, I like him as a superhero, because he’s not particularly endowed with superpowers, he’s just smart. And the suit! I’m Batman, tell your friends about me. I love that, that was the Michael Keaton version. Well, thanks, sure – I’m all for that.
And that’s it, really. Until Ben Affleck comments on his future in the DC Extended Universe – or lack thereof – we can go ahead and file this one in the rumor cabinet for the time being, as we can’t imagine many prominent Hollywood stars would turn down the chance to play one of the biggest superheroes of all time.
Meanwhile, on the Warner Bros. lot, The Batman is seemingly coming together “really, really well” ahead of its tentative 2020 release date, though Matt Reeves clearly isn’t ready to share anything major about the project until the time is right.
