Evidence Mounts That One Character From The Original Trilogy Is Locked In For Solo: A Star Wars Story

Merchandise for Solo: A Star Wars Story may have inadvertently spoiled a cameo from this original trilogy character. And it's not C-3PO.

Let it be known that Solo: A Star Wars Story has deep, deep ties to Lucasfilm’s space opera – more so than even Rogue One, which is really more of a standalone adventure spun out from the fabric of A New Hope.

Case in point: the Powers That Be are reportedly mulling over the possibility of building a new trilogy around Alden Ehrenreich’s young smuggler, after the actor let slip that he had actually signed on for another two movies beyond 2018. Perhaps those continuations will involve a separate story for Lando Calrissian and some other Star Wars prequel? It’s too soon to tell.

But amid Lucasfilm’s deluge of clips and electrifying TV spots (see here), the folks over at Cinema Blend have uncovered a new scrap of intel that appears to confirm the appearance of one fan-favorite character from the Original Trilogy. And no, it’s not C-3PO.

Still with us? A listing from PopVinyls has seemingly outed the involvement of Boba Fett, the beloved and oddly silent bounty hunter who shot to fame during Lucasfilm’s Original Trilogy – and, well, the less said about the Prequel Trilogy and its strange story retcon, the better.

It’s by no means the first time that the character has been rumored to appear, particularly when you consider that Empire’s recent preview of Solo: A Star Wars Story included a shot of Paul Bettany’s Dryden Vos standing next to some Mandalorian armor. That particular guise was coated in blood-red paint, though, whereas Boba Fett is known for his lime-green paint and rocket launcher.

Going one step further, surely if Boba Fett is involved, then Jabba the Hutt must be as well, right? All will be revealed once Solo: A Star Wars Story begins screening on May 25th.
