Resident Evil 2 Remake

Resident Evil 2 Remake Release Date Possibly Outed By Capcom

Capcom may've just let slip the release date of their eagerly awaited Resident Evil 2 Remake. Are you ready to return to the iconic streets of Raccoon City?

You’d be hard pressed to find a horror franchise with as much cultural significance as Capcom’s Resident Evil. Not only did 1996’s PS1 original set the gaming landscape aflame, with its taut atmosphere, jaw-dropping 3D graphics, eerie audio and jump-out-of-your skin scares, but it also quickly became a huge critical and commercial success, before spawning a myriad of video game sequels, as well as a multi-media franchise that spans across books, comics and even blockbuster movies.

Though it may not be the first survival horror game ever (1982’s 3D Monster Maze is often awarded that prestigious accolade, but it’s up for debate), Resident Evil did help popularize the genre. All things considered though, the one entry into the series that franchise devotees really hold in deep regard is Capcom’s sophomore effort: Resident Evil 2. Following a fan petition in 2015 to remake the popular sequel, the publisher finally announced that such an endeavor was finally underway, to the delight of gamers across the globe.

Fast forward to 2018 though, and details regarding the survival horror remake have been scant, to say the least. That being said, Capcom may well have outed the release date of their eagerly anticipated remake.

In a fiscal earnings meeting earlier this week, the Japanese publisher announced that they’ll be releasing two major titles in 2019, which will launch on March 22nd and April 19th, respectively. It’s a fairly safe bet that one of these will be the Resident Evil 2 Remake that fans have been clamoring for.

A few other tidbits of information have also been detailed recently, including a report that revealed that the upcoming horror remake will feature an over-the-shoulder camera perspective, expand the city sections of the game and re-jig the design of the interior of the iconic Raccoon City Police Department.

We’re not sure about you, but we can’t wait to take a trip back to the zombie-infested streets of Raccoon City and as soon as we hear more about Capcom’s plans, we’ll let you know.
