Ms. Marvel

Kevin Feige Confirms Plans To Introduce Ms. Marvel After Captain Marvel

Though they've currently got their hands full with Carol Danvers, Kevin Feige's confirmed plans to introduce Ms. Marvel afterwards.

As we all know, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) will make her big screen debut in 2019 – following a brief tease at the end of Avengers: Infinity War – but what about the character who adopted her old mantle of Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan?

The teenage Inhuman (well, she’s actually a human with Inhuman traits….but we won’t get into that here) has become a fairly popular hero since her introduction back in 2013, and the fact that she also happens to be a Muslim Pakistani American has led to many fans calling for a live-action adaptation sooner rather than later, given the current climate.

In the past few years, there’s been a lot in the way of rumors and speculation pointing to the character getting her own vehicle, but so far, nothing’s materialized. That could be about to change, though.

Ms. Marvel

In a recent interview, Kevin Feige revealed that the studio does indeed have plans to bring Ms. Marvel to the big screen. However, he noted that they want to take care of Carol Danvers and introduce her to audiences first. Once they’ve got her solo movie out the door, though, then they’ll turn their attention to Khan.

Created by editors Sana Amanat and Stephen Wacker, writer G. Willow Wilson and artist Adrian Alphona, the character made her first appearance in Captain Marvel #14 (August 2013) before taking the lead in the solo series Ms. Marvel, which debuted in February 2014. How exactly she’ll factor into the MCU remains to be seen, of course, but it’s nice to know that the studio is continuing on with their commitment to diversity when it comes to the juggernaut franchise that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We don’t expect to hear much more on any sort of Ms. Marvel plans for quite a while, as Feige and co. have a very full plate for the immediate future, but in the meantime, feel free to head on down to the comments section and let us know which actresses you’d like to see in the role.
