Daredevil season 3 is now going before the cameras, and so a solid picture of what awaits the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is beginning to form. Recently, it was confirmed that ol’ Hornhead’s nemesis Bullseye is finally making his MCU debut and will be played by Wilson Bethel. Now, a star from the first season of the Marvel-Netflix series has revealed that she’s also returning for the new run.

Ayelet Zurer took to her Instagram account to share a couple of photos that made it abundantly clear that she’s set to reprise her role as Vanessa Mariana, the love of crime boss Wilson Fisk’s life. First of all, she posted a classic comic book panel of Fisk and Vanessa sharing a sweet moment three weeks ago. Then, she made it 100% obvious as she snapped a photo of herself in the back of a cab with Vincent D’Onofrio, who of course plays her on-screen fiancee on Daredevil.

Zurer was last seen as Vanessa in the season 1 finale. As Fisk’s ambitions fell into ruins because of Matt Murdock, he organized for her to flee the country. Even in the face of the depth of his crimes coming to light though, Vanessa stood by him and the couple pledged their love for each other as they parted, with Fisk staying behind in New York and being thrown in jail. She didn’t appear in season 2, though she was referenced when Murdock threatened to keep her out of the country. That turned out to be a bad move, of course, as Fisk beat his face into a pulp.

Previous set photos have revealed that Fisk will wrangle it so that he gets let out of prison in season 3, which is presumably why Vanessa returns to the city, so that she can be with him again. We also know that this season will adapt the seminal comic book storyline “Born Again,” which sees the Kingpin aim to get the ultimate revenge on Daredevil by tearing his life apart after he realizes that Matt Murdock and the vigilante are one and the same.

Details beyond that are scarce, but with things now starting to heat up, we expect to learn more soon.
