Stan Lee Says Tom Holland’s Exactly How He Envisioned Spider-Man

Now that he has wrestled back control of his Twitter account, after a difficult few months for the comic book legend, Stan Lee is being his old good-natured self and is using the social media site to praise the actor who currently brings his most beloved character to life on the big screen: Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

Now that he’s wrestled back control of his Twitter account, after a difficult few months for the comic book legend, Stan Lee is being his old good natured self and using the social media platform to praise the actor who currently brings his most beloved character to life on the big screen, Tom Holland – who plays Spider-Man in the MCU.

Over the weekend, the Marvel creator wrote a Tweet about how “great” he finds Holland’s portrayal of the hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On the young actor who’s portrayed the webslinger since 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, Lee said:

“I think @TomHolland1996 is a great Spider-Man. He is the exact height and age I envisioned when I first wrote Spider-Man. Spidey was never supposed to be too large. How is my friend Tom doing?”

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Stan’s heaped praise upon Holland’s performance as the friendly, neighborhood wall-crawler. Back in 2016, he echoed his statements here as he said that the actor perfectly embodied the character of Spider-Man. “It’s as if we created a living being to be Spider-Man,” Lee commented at the time. “And it turned out to be Tom.”

You could say that Holland was born to be Spider-Man. As Lee points out, he’s a dead ringer for Peter Parker’s traditional appearance on the comic book page. What’s more, though, he’s a lifelong Spidey fan himself. You’ve probably seen the shots of him as a kid playing with his Spider-Man action figure or dressed in pajamas featuring the hero.

What’s funny, too, is that fans think Tom Holland might be born to play another Marvel-related role other than Spider-Man: a young Stan Lee. If you look at the comic book legend in his younger days, he does resemble Holland a bit, and if that rumored Stan Lee biopic ever gets off the ground, the actor’s definitely the obvious choice to star in it. We bet that Lee himself, being the big Tom Holland fan that he is, would support the casting, too.
