James Gunn And Mark Hamill Finally Met About Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

A few months back, something wonderful happened on Twitter. Star Wars legend Mark Hamill began talking about a role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 with writer/director James Gunn and the conversation ended with the two fan favorites agreeing to meet up for coffee at some point to discuss it. Obviously, everyone kept their fingers crossed that something would come from this. I mean, Luke Skywalker teaming-up with Star-Lord? Yes, please!

And while nothing official has been announced just yet, we can at least confirm that the two have sat down together for that cup of Joe. Gunn confirmed as much on Instagram this week, teasing that he’d just met with Hamill. There was no mention of Vol. 3, but given that the pair had been planning on discussing it, we imagine it at least came up in conversation. Whether anything comes from that remains to be seen, but we’re certainly hopeful.

After all, having Hamill cameo in the next Guardians of the Galaxy would be exciting on so many levels. Not only would it mark a crossover of two great sci-fi film franchises, but it would also be fun to see the actor appear in the MCU. As well as Star Wars, Hamill is most known for his long-running portrayal of the Joker for DC, so it’d be pretty fan-pleasing to have him work for Marvel, too.

Besides, you have to imagine that if Hamill’s indeed serious about joining the franchise, the studio will make it happen. Perhaps not in Vol. 3, but maybe somewhere down the road. After all, The Last Jedi star has been a longtime favorite for when it comes to who folks would love to see added into the MCU, with there being a whole bunch of characters from the comics that he’d be a perfect fit for.

In fact, not too long ago he expressed interest in playing Doctor Octopus, while fans have already been speculating on who Hamill could bring to life should he join Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In other words, Marvel wouldn’t be short on roles for which they’d be able to place the actor in and we can only hope that he one day finds his way into the MCU.
