By now, I’m sure that all of you know of three subjects we are never to discuss at the dinner table: Religion, politics and Olicity. I say that because the third one, as we’re well aware, is quite likely the most divisive topic amongst Arrow fans. No joke, nobody – not even me – is immune to the wrath of the diehard Felicity Smoak fan. Heck, you’ll get called every name in the book if you aren’t a “shipper.”
But if you’re able to view characters and the actors who play them as separate entities, we’ll move forward by discussing what may or may not be on the horizon for Oliver Queen and his wife, Felicity.
After less than a year of marriage, the two have seen their shared life turned upside down, with the Emerald Archer now in Supermax lockup. Naturally, he’ll be breathing free air before long because we wouldn’t have a TV show to watch if not, so there’s been speculation surrounding whether William will be gifted with a half-sibling in the near future.
Well, according to Emily Bett Rickards herself, you may want to pump the breaks when it comes to that idea, as she had the following to say to TV Guide:
“I don’t know if I would be interested in exploring that storyline right now with Felicity. I feel like she deserves a little something more than that, and I don’t want that to be taken the wrong way. I’d just be interested in seeing her, I don’t know, like, deal with a villain face-to-face for a consistent number of episodes?”
With Team Arrow left vulnerable enough for the time being, one has to admit Felicity having a baby of her own at this point would severely impact her duty as Overwatch, nor would she have the opportunity to appear on Supergirl. Still, she could receive a child of a different sort in due time if Smoak Technologies ever becomes an actual thing:
“Because it’s been teased in a future world in one of our universes, it’s definitely a possibility. But it also is one of those things where we don’t have to do it. I think it would be extremely enjoyable to see what’s next there.”
To date, Smoak Technologies has been hinted at on both Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow, but, who knows, maybe Helix Dynamics will one day undergo a rebranding? Time will tell, of course, but we’ll keep watching no matter what happens on that front.
