Avengers: Infinity War ended as tragically as it possibly could. As Thanos wipes out half of the universe with a snap of his fingers, many of our favorite heroes are reduced to dust before our very eyes – Black Panther, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Star-Lord, etc. Exploring the psychological consequences of this sounds like incredibly fertile dramatic territory, right?
I mean, just how does the population at large cope with something as monumental as this – it’s the kind of event that would shake society to its core. While it’s doubtful that Marvel will dive into the events of Infinity War‘s conclusion to that extent, it would certainly be nice to see how some of the other heroes react to what the Mad Titan’s done.
Sure, we do get to see folks like Tony Stark watch in horror as Peter Parker vanishes into the wind, or Cap desperately look on as his friends fade away, but what about Shuri? Yes, the fan favorite was nowhere to be found during the film’s devastating conclusion and many were left wondering how she’s going to take the news that T’Challa – and the others – are now gone.
It’s unclear yet if the studio will show us that in Avengers 4, but thankfully, we have comic artist Stephen Byrne, who’s shared the below panel on Twitter which imagines what Letitia Wright’s character’s reaction would be like upon hearing that her friends have been dusted.
This may not be as good as getting to see the scene play out on the big screen, but we imagine it’s a pretty accurate depiction of what it would look like in live action. The only question it leaves us with, really, is whether the Snap might lead to Shuri taking on the Black Panther mantle in T’Challa’s absence? There’s precedent for it in the source material and we know that Wright’s game, so could it potentially happen in Avengers 4? It’s too early to say for sure, but we wouldn’t rule it out.
Avengers: Infinity War, meanwhile, is still playing all across the globe, and has since collected around $1.9 billion in box office receipts. That number will likely continue to climb as time wears on, so there’s still a good chance Marvel’s third Avengers movie will break $2 billion, after all.
