Amid all the fuss surrounding Superman’s Black costume – or lack thereof – and all of Bruce Wayne’s bells and whistles, fans left Justice League with one question: why didn’t the Zack Snyder-directed blockbuster deliver a new costume for Barry Allen?
The Scarlet Speedster was seen sporting the same duds as from Suicide Squad, so it’s small wonder why a small pool of fans were left disappointed by Snyder’s decision, particularly when you remember those early rumors that the filmmaker had drawn up a radical new costume mid-way through production on Justice League.
Turns out that’s not the case, after all, as Zack Snyder wanted to leave a relatively blank slate for Flashpoint‘s directors – namely John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein – ahead of their own standalone movie. All of this (and more!) was revealed over on the director’s personal Vero account, where the filmmaker clarified his decision to rob Barry Allen of a new costume just before filming on Justice League began.
Asked why Ezra Miller’s speedster didn’t get a second costume in the movie, Snyder took to Vero (h/t Twitter, Heroic Hollywood) and offered fans a glimpse behind the curtain, before confirming that there were never any plans to upgrade Barry’s suit as it risked stepping on the toes of Flashpoint.
