Chris Hemsworth Says Avengers 4 Is More Shocking Than Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War was the culmination of the past ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Every entry in the franchise, to some degree, paved the way for all of the galaxy’s mightiest heroes to finally come together and take on Thanos as he attempted to collect all six Infinity Stones and decimate the universe. As the Russos have put it, it acted as the beginning of the final chapter of the book that started in 2008’s Iron Man.

Having said that, though, even those fans who’d seen all 18 movies to date and knew them inside out were not prepared for what happened in Infinity War. It was a truly shocking film on many levels, from that devastating finale to the unexpected character deaths along the way. But if Chris Hemsworth is to be believed, we might not be out of the woods just yet.

The MCU stalwart was speaking with Esquire recently and revealed that things are about to get even crazier in Avengers 4, which will be with us in May. He wouldn’t reveal any plot details of course, but did tease the following:

“If you were shocked by [Infinity War], I think the second one is even more shocking, for other reasons entirely. That’s what kind of blew me away the first time I read both scripts, is how they managed to orchestrate so many different characters but give them each their own separate shot and moments, and have it be elevated and feel fresh and unique – not just like a messy, thrown-together assembly of these guys.”

The fact that Hemsworth specifies that the sequel is shocking for different reasons is a good thing, as it most likely means that not as many characters will be meeting their end. How exactly it’ll shock us then, remains to be seen, but we’ve got a feeling that Joe and Anthony Russo have cooked up quite the movie for us.

After all, Avengers 4 is set to be the Phase 3 closer, wrapping up countless stories and arcs from across numerous films. It’ll also have to lay the seeds for Phase 4, which kicks off on July 5th, 2019 with Spider-Man: Homecoming 2. But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. First, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have some unfinished business to attend to and they’ll be able to do so when they return to our screens on May 3rd.
