Captured on set between takes it is, of course, no longer a surprise to see Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor alive and well and flicking the Vs, although there are some serious questions that need answering regarding his return. After the events of Wonder Woman, it’s truly surprising to see Trevor literally in one piece, with not a singed eyebrow in sight.

This is all in stark contrast to the marketing campaign that was built around 2017’s Justice League. There, Henry Cavill’s Superman was largely left out of much of the promotional material, regardless of the fact that it was widely known that the Son of Krypton would be appearing in the film. With Wonder Woman 2, Chris Pine’s all over it right from the start.

There are, of course, some reasonably large loose ends to tie up now. If Trevor’s appearance is part of some sort of ‘Bobby steps out of the shower’ dream sequence a la Dallas, we can only imagine that fans will be left feeling somewhat shortchanged. If he’s back for good…then how?

If his return is for real, we can also assume that he’ll get dramatically killed off once again so Gal Gadot’s heroine has her grief-filled cornerstone in time for the events that occur in Justice League. Chalk that up as speculation for now, though, as little is known about Wonder Woman 1984‘s plot. But as shooting continues, we’ll hopefully learn more soon.
