Official Titans Synopsis Teases A Gritty New Take On The DC Classic

With Brenton Thwaites front and center, Warner's live-action Titans series has been pitched as a dark and gritty take on the Teen Titans classic, and we now have the official synopsis to prove it.

The DC Universe is about to swoop onto the small screen replete with Titans and five other original series.

Warner Bros. today unveiled its soon-to-be-released subscription service to the masses, confirming that the live-action Titans, one which has Brenton Thwaites (Dead Men Tell No Tales) attached to the role of Dick Grayson/Robin, has been set for a late 2018 premiere on the streaming service.

Through time, it’ll be joined by Swamp Thing, Doom Patrol, a third season of Young Justice and the adult-oriented animated series based on Harley Quinn, the Clown Princess of Crime.

Meanwhile, the platform’s first original program is a much darker take on the classic Teen Titans franchise, as evidenced by the first-look shot of Brenton Thwaites in full costume (hint: he looks a little worse for wear). And now, we have the show’s official synopsis to pore over, which reaffirms the involvement of Starfire and the loveable Beast Boy.

Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.

Beyond Titans, the DC Universe has also mapped out plans to remaster old classics like Batman: The Animated Series and the original Wonder Woman show. There’s also mention of animated DC movies, such as Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox and Green Lantern: First Flight, making their way onto the streaming service further down the line, so stay tuned for more.

Titans is one of six original series headed to Warner’s DC Universe, and it’ll be the first to tumble off the production line this fall.
