Luke Cage Star Asks Josh Brolin To Promise Thanos Won’t Kill His Character

Marvel fans are always wishing for the movies of the MCU to crossover with the movies more often. Recently, for instance, many hoped the universe-shattering events of Avengers: Infinity War would have repercussions on the small screen, too, but all we got was a brief reference in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. So where's our proper crossover? What would happen if, say, Luke Cage encountered Thanos?

Marvel fans are always wishing for the movies of the MCU to crossover with the TV shows more often. Recently, many hoped the universe-shattering events of Avengers: Infinity War would have repercussions on the small screen, too, but all we got was a brief reference in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. So where’s our proper crossover? And what would happen if, say, Luke Cage encountered Thanos?

Well, that last one we can actually answer thanks to the Hero of Harlem himself, Mike Colter, and it didn’t go down quite how you’d think it would. The Luke Cage star took to Twitter to reveal what happened when he acted alongside Josh Brolin, who plays the Mad Titan, back in 2012’s Men In Black 3.

As you can see below, Colter shared a shot which hilariously shows the duo holding hands. Referencing their MCU connection, he followed the image up with a brilliant caption, writing: “Ok #joshbrolin aka Thanos i will hold your hand between takes IF you promise to not let your future ⁦Marvel⁩ character kill my future ⁦Marvel⁩ character in a future ⁦Marvel⁩ movie where a lot of us get wiped out. Guess it worked.”

Fans of the sci-fi franchise (which is actually based on an obscure Marvel-owned comic book, wouldn’t you know) will remember that Brolin played the younger version of Agent K in the time-traveling threequel. Colter, meanwhile, turned up for the third act as – spoilers – the father of Will Smith’s Agent J. It looks like the two actors got on like a house on fire at the time, too, which is funny, considering how their Marvel characters would be on opposite sides if they ever met.

Of course, this isn’t the first time a Marvel TV star has joked about finding an alternate way to stop Thanos. Agent Carter’s Hayley Atwell teased that if Peggy Carter faced the genocidal alien she would have a chat with Thanos and offer him some lipstick to calm him down. Hey, apparently holding his hand worked for Luke Cage, so who knows?
