Hayley Atwell Reveals How Agent Carter Would Take Down Thanos

Thanos proved to live up to all the hype when he finally made his mark on the MCU in Avengers: Infinity War. Not even the combined might of just about every one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes could stop him from wiping out half of the entire universe with his Infinity Gauntlet. Things might have played out differently, though, if Agent Carter got the chance to spend a few minutes with him. Or at least, that's what Hayley Atwell thinks.

Thanos proved to live up to all the hype when he finally made his mark on the MCU in Avengers: Infinity War. Not even the combined might of just about every one of the galaxy’s mightiest heroes could stop him from wiping out half of the entire universe with his Infinity Gauntlet. Things might have played out differently, though, if Agent Carter got the chance to spend a few minutes with him. Or at least, that’s what Hayley Atwell thinks.

Speaking at a Q&A panel during this weekend’s ACE Comic-Con in Seattle, Atwell was asked how she thinks her fan favorite Marvel character would have handled the Mad Titan. The actress – last seen in 2016’s Agent Carter season 2 – revealed that she thinks Peggy would use other methods than her fists to take on the villain, picking up on the fact that he’s a conflicted individual.

“You know how with Thanos you can see this tormented man working through his own kind of moral compass. There’s like this sensitivity about him that’s required when he’s got to kill his own daughter. I think there must be an Achilles’ heel in there somewhere. There must be some sort of way there to disarm him that’s not physical.”

And if a good talking to didn’t help calm him down, Atwell thinks Peggy might have a secret weapon up her sleeve that could work instead: her trusty red lipstick.

“I think she’s maybe just give him a therapy session. I think she would help him celebrate his differences. I think she would give him a little red lipstick and say that it works wonders for me when I’m having a bad day.”

It’s a shame that none of the Avengers thought about trying to cheer Thanos up with cosmetics, eh? You never know, it might have done the trick!

Maybe Peggy will get to try and work her magic on Thanos herself though in Avengers 4. We know that Hayley Atwell was in the Georgia area when the movie was filming earlier this year, which started theories that Agent Carter could return via time travel, which is confirmed to be a key element of the movie. That said, Atwell has complicated these rumors as she suggested she wouldn’t want to make an MCU comeback. Either way, all will be revealed on May 3rd.
