Logan helmer James Mangold has addressed online rumors linking him with the Boba Fett movie… kind of.
First spotted by Heroic Hollywood, the director recently called out one particularly stubborn Twitter user, who is of the opinion that a standalone Boba Fett film is the “worst idea ever.”
Be that as it may, Mangold took the time to remind said Twitter user – and everyone, really – that Ford V. Ferrari remains his number-one priority. Due to screech into theaters next summer, the race car drama features such A-listers as Christian Bale, Matt Damon and The Punisher‘s Jon Bernthal, and while there has been chatter that Mangold’s next project will involve everyone’s favorite Mandalorian, the director refused to be drawn about Lucasfilm’s mooted Boba Fett film… for now.
Look what I got from a self-proclaimed "lover of life"! Seriously Blackbird, chill. I'm making a period car racing movie w/ Christian Bale & Matt Damon. No Mandalorians involved. Stop reading so much gossip.
Oh, and in my opinion: children in cages = worst idea ever. https://t.co/e7zAa6GmCk

For someone who isn’t officially locked into that galaxy far, far away just yet, Mangold has been pretty vocal about all things Star Wars, and recently stressed that, if online toxicity continues unchecked, it’ll force major Hollywood talent to think twice before embarking to the franchise.
Christopher McQuarrie (Mission: Impossible – Fallout) is one such director to express his dismay at the current state of Star Wars‘ fanbase, while The Last Jedi‘s Rian Johnson has been inundated with criticism and, at times, spiteful harassment ever since his numbered sequel zoomed into theaters last December.
Where does this leave Lucasfilm’s Boba Fett spinoff? Frankly, we don’t know, but one thing’s clear: James Mangold currently has his hands full with Ford V. Ferrari, and likely won’t be behind the wheel of a Star Wars movie until at least 2020. And that’s the glass-half-full estimation.
