Wilson Fisk, arguably Matt Murdock’s greatest on-screen adversary thus far, is returning to Hell’s Kitchen for Daredevil season 3.
News of Fisk’s second coming began circulating late last year, and it wasn’t long before curious on-lookers captured Vincent D’Onofrio in and around New York City. We’ve since learned that his season 3 role is good enough to blow us away, though Charlie Cox refuses to be drawn about the actor’s involvement, and played coy about Kingpin during his interview with Collider at Las Vegas Comic-Con 2018.
So after soliciting questions about The Defenders and its own future, Cox was quizzed about Matt Murdock’s next steps, and that mooted clash with Wilson Fisk.
Vincent D’Onofrio is a tour de force, huh? I don’t know if could say enough good things about him. What’s great about Vincent — I always think of the scenes I have with him as requiring very little acting on my part. Because he’s so scary as Wilson Fisk, and he’s so big, I just know if I learn my lines, when I say them, it’s likely to work. Because so much of the acting is done for you just because of what he brings for you to a scene.
As someone who helped bring a sense of gravitas and engrossing drama to Daredevil season 1, the mere mention of Vincent D’Onofrio is enough to get us on board for the third season of Netflix’s premier Marvel series. He also enjoyed a small cameo role during season 2, and helped cement The Punisher‘s place in the TV franchise.
So while Charlie Cox isn’t ready to acknowledge Vincent D’Onofrio’s part in Daredevil season 3 – lest he run the risk of spoilers – we’re still extremely excited to see what’s in store, what with the plan to adapt classic comic book storyline “Born Again.” All 13 episodes will purportedly be available to stream at some point this year.
