Did James Wan Just Confirm The Plot Of Aquaman?

Last month, it appeared that DCEU founding father Zack Snyder might’ve divulged the plot of Aquaman - well, at least partially - nearly a year and a half ago while promoting, Justice League. If you recall, an old poster from the much-maligned superhero feature showcased Jason Momoa’s titular Human-Atlantean Hybrid accompanied by text overlay which read “Unite The Seven.”

Last month, it appeared that DCEU founding father Zack Snyder might’ve divulged the plot of Aquaman – well, at least partially – nearly a year and a half ago while promoting, Justice League. If you recall, an old poster from the much-maligned superhero feature showcased Jason Momoa’s titular Human-Atlantean Hybrid accompanied by text overlay which read “Unite The Seven.”

Now, at the time, many assumed this was a reference to the titular supergroup, but how could it have been, as there were only six members? With that in mind, one eagle-eyed DC fan found comic book evidence supporting his theory that “Unite The Seven” was actually referring to Arthur Curry’s attempt at unifying the Seven Great Cities of Atlantis. Well, Twitter user @SindarOath, it turns out you were right.

Earlier today, Entertainment Weekly provided us with our first look at the Fisherman King, portrayed by none other than two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou. Then, as if the image itself wasn’t sufficient enough a gift, in his reaction to the photo, director James Wan irrefutably lent credence to @SindarOath’s Aquaman theory.

Replying to EW on Twitter, Wan Tweeted the following: “Always looking for a reason to work with the highly evolved Djimon Hounsou again. #oneofthesevenkingdoms.” Now, if that isn’t corroboration, I don’t know what is. I mean, what else could Wan possibly be alluding to with that hashtag? If you’ve got a better hypothesis, be sure to let us know in the comments section below.

Set to explore the rich history of Arthur Curry and his reluctance to accept the role of King, Aquaman will see Momoa play our disinclined King, Amber Heard as his wife, Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the villain, Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko. Look for it to swim into theaters on December 21st.
