Halloween Producer Guarantees That We’re All Going To Love The Movie

Blumhouse Productions have a business model that essentially boils down to throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks, with predictably uneven results. Cranking out movies on a relatively low budget, the studio doesn’t need every one of their horror films to be a huge hit, so perhaps it’s inevitable that for every Get Out you get a few straight-to-VOD duds. Though we’ve yet to find out where the upcoming Halloween will lie on this spectrum, at least it has producer Jason Blum’s personal seal of approval.

The founder and CEO of Blumhouse Productions took to Twitter recently to assure fans of the slasher series that they’re in for a wild ride, saying the following:

“Gang,   gotta tell ya:  The new @halloweenmovie movie ROCKS.   And you’re all going to love it.  I guarantee it.  So pipe down, already.  And STRAP IN !   #Halloween”

For obvious reasons, this endorsement should be taken with a grain of salt, but it’s still a fairly encouraging sign that the producer is willing to show this much confidence in David Gordon Green’s timeline-altering follow-up to the 1978 original. While some fans weren’t too happy to hear that the new film would be disregarding every other sequel in the franchise, actress Jamie Lee Curtis recently told Entertainment Weekly that she embraced this attempt at a clean slate.

“What I loved is that it surgically excises all of that dead tissue. This is growing from just that original movie, 40 years later. There may be people who love the other movies, great — [they have] zero relevance to this story.”

In the lead-up to the release of Green’s film, we’ve already been given a fair amount of trailer footage and several photos to scrutinize, but if you’re still eager for more hype-building material then get ready for next week’s San Diego Comic-Con, where the movie will have a spot on Universal’s roster.

Halloween is set to hit theaters on October 19th. In the meantime, Blumhouse’s The First Purge is currently in cinemas and Unfriended: Dark Web is out on July 20th.
