Captain America And Groot Meet In Newly Released Avengers: Infinity War Clip

Avengers: Infinity War is easily the most crossover-heavy installment in the MCU yet, leading to some pretty amusing moments when characters from disparate sections of the franchise meet for the first time. Just take the scene where Dr. Stephen Strange introduces himself to Peter Parker, which nicely combines the latter’s youthful naïveté with the former’s slightly ridiculous surname (“Oh, we're using our made-up names.”).

Another example would be the initial meeting between Captain America and Groot, where a typically square Steve Rogers responds politely to the adolescent tree’s coincidentally appropriate catchphrase. It’s a great scene and in the lead-up to Infinity War’s home video release, the official Avengers Twitter account has now shared a clip of this moment for your viewing pleasure.

Before getting round to Groot’s line, the video shows us the brief exchange between Rocket and Bucky Barnes, where the furry guardian offers to buy the Winter Soldier’s prosthetic arm. Steve and Thor then have a little banter about beards and haircuts, before the God of Thunder directs Cap’s attention to his tree friend. Finally, Groot introduces himself the only way he can – “I am Groot!” – before Steve courteously replies: “I am Steve Rogers.”

Overall, it’s a cute little moment that comes right before the film takes some pretty dark turns. But while fans will already be familiar with this clip, they can expect plenty of new material to be available on Infinity War’s various home video release formats.

For instance, one leaked scene that didn’t make the movie’s theatrical cut but will surely make the bonus features is a quick appearance from Stark Industries’ former head of security and Iron Man film regular Happy Hogan. Released just the other day, meanwhile, is a scene in which several of the Guardians of the Galaxy squabble over music and receive an important coded message.

All this and much, much more will be available to watch as many times as you’d like when Avengers: Infinity War comes to Digital HD on July 31st, then 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 14th.
