Kid Flash Will Only Appear In The First 3 Episodes Of The Flash Season 5

Keiynan Lonsdale announced back in June that he was bowing out of his role as an Arrowverse regular, something that was especially sad for fans as the actor had just found a great groove as part of the Waverider crew on Legends of Tomorrow. We later learned that Wally West's goodbye would come in The Flash season 5, with Lonsdale returning to his original show in the season premiere.

Keiynan Lonsdale announced back in June that he was bowing out of his role as an Arrowverse regular, something that was especially sad for fans as the actor had just found a great groove as part of the Waverider crew on Legends of Tomorrow. We later learned that Wally West’s goodbye would come in The Flash season 5, with Lonsdale returning to his original show in the season premiere.

We hadn’t known for how long he’d stick around for, but showrunner Todd Helbing has now confirmed that it’ll only be a mere handful of weeks. In an interview with Newsarama, Helbing revealed that Kid Flash will return to Central City for a brief arc of three episodes. However, he promised a “really cool” story in that short time frame for fans to look forward to.

“You will see Wally in the first episode. He is in three episodes this season. We don’t have as much time with Kid Flash as I think everyone would like to see, but the story we have for him is really cool.”

Last time Wally left The Flash, he was said to be traveling in order to find himself. Apparently, he’s got that out of his system now, hence his comeback. That leaves us wondering why Wally would depart Central City again. Before you start worrying for the character’s safety though, Lonsdale’s already promised us that he’ll still show up in the Arrowverse now and again even after he exits, so killing him off seems unlikely.

Barry Allen might be losing his beloved sidekick, but he’s at least gaining another one in season 5 in his place. The season 4 finale revealed that his speedster daughter from the future, Nora West-Allen AKA XS, has journeyed to the present, potentially endangering the timeline in the process. It sounds like the Scarlet Speedster will have enough on his plate, then, leaving Wally to sprint away into the sunset as The Flash fans shed a tear over his departure.
