The Internet's movie database is convinced Francesca Ruscio will be playing the role of Huntress for DC's forthcoming Birds of Prey movie.

It seems Francesca Ruscio has emerged as the frontrunner for DC’s Birds of Prey movie, where she’ll presumably play the role of Huntress.

Over on Twitter, for example, a now-deleted post from Ruscio included the hashtags ‘Helena Bertinelli’ (Huntress’ secret identity) and ‘Birds of Prey,’ which actually echoes a previous post from the actress, in which she mentions Huntress by name.

Adding fuel to the fire today is the news that Francesca Ruscio’s personal IMDb page has been updated to include the Birds of Prey spinoff movie, which is coming by way of Cathy Yan and producer Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad). The latter will feature quite prominently – ditto for Black Canary and Rene Montoya – as they begin their quest to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord.

Keep in mind that IMDb can be edited by anyone with an official account, so it could well be that Ruscio’s slate was tentatively updated to reflect these persistent rumors. Or, failing that, perhaps she’s simply campaigning for the coveted role of Helena Bertinelli?

Whatever the case, there’s also the very real possibility that Warner Bros. is courting Alexandra Daddario (Baywatch) for the role of Huntress, though the studio continues to play its cards close to the vest (no surprise there) as Birds of Prey finally begins to take shape.

Behind the lens for this one is Cathy Yan, with a script from Bumblebee and Batgirl scribe Christina Hodson. And while it’s still early, early days on Birds of Prey, Warner’s female-fronted spinoff is fast becoming the talk of the town. Here’s hoping we catch wind of the first major piece of casting sooner rather than later, then.
