Thor: Ragnarok Director Taika Waititi Reprises As Korg For New Marvel Motion Comic

Korg, everyone's favorite pile of walking, talking rocks, returns in this all-new motion comic from Marvel, featuring the voice of Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.

“The revolution has begun!”

Are Korg and Miek still alive? That’s a question for Kevin Feige and the Russo Brothers going into Avengers 4, but those hoping to catch Taika Waititi as Sakaar’s walking, talking pile of rocks need look no further than Marvel’s new Contest of Champions motion comic, in which the Thor: Ragnarok director lights the fuse on Korg’s “re-revolution.”

You can catch a sneak preview of Marvel’s latest release down below, and you’ll be pleased to hear that Korg has learned from his mistake – this time around, the MCU revolutionary has printed more than enough pamphlets… even if the actual turnout is less than stellar.

In fact, only Miek, Valkyrie and a mysterious three-headed alien answer Korg’s call to arms, though in fairness, three attendees is certainly better than none…

Pretty cool, huh? If nothing else, it’s great to see Taika Waititi’s Korg find life beyond Thor: Ragnarok, where he was arguably one of the film’s standout characters – second only to Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie.

Neither  was name-dropped during Avengers: Infinity War, though Kevin Feige has teased that Marvel’s odd couple are still out there somewhere, pulling pranks and staging revolutions just as they did on Sakaar. Assuming that’s indeed the case, then it seems Korg and Miek (and Valkyrie?) managed to escape from the Asgardian refugee ship just before Thanos and his Black Order came knocking.

So perhaps we’ll see Taika Waititi’s Korg return in some capacity during Marvel’s Phase 4? It’s possible, though it’s still worth keeping in mind that the director’s become one of the early candidates rumored to replace James Gunn on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Alas, there’s still no word of an official announcement by Disney or Marvel Studios, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
