The Terminator Reboot’s Release Date Gets Moved Up

When it comes to the Terminator franchise, I think we could debate for some time regarding whether or not another sequel will succeed or bomb at the box office after underwhelming performances given by the last two installments - Salvation and Genesys - but the fact remains that it's one of the most beloved science fiction series of all time. Therefore, studios are still willing to spend some dough on it.

That said, one could surmise that a lot’s riding on the next flick, which has now had its release date moved up by one week to November 15, 2019. That’s right, Skynet is fully self-aware, and is allowing us all to take in the picture that’ll see series veterans Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton making their return just a little bit earlier.

On top of that, one other interesting little nugget to surface is that “Terminator” is merely the working title of the movie, so we can probably expect for some other nifty subtitle to be added before opening weekend.

As for how this’ll differ from the original film, James Cameron himself had this explanation to offer not long ago:

“We’re developing a new Terminator film. And The Terminator films are all about artificial intelligence. But I would say we’re looking at it differently than when I wrote the first story in 1982. That was just your classic ‘technology bad, smart computers bad’ kind of thing. Nowadays though — it’s got to be a much more nuanced perspective. So its ‘Smart computers bad… BUT…’ That’s the new motif.”

After reading that, all we can do is hope that he didn’t mean “smart computers bad…BUT…now they sing.” But no matter how you slice it, I’ll forever be among the crowd who remains curious whenever another Terminator movie arrives, so I pretty much have to see it.
