Dave Bautista Says He May Not Return For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

After Disney terminated filmmaker James Gunn, and Marvel halted production on the project, you’d figure it couldn’t get any worse for the twenty-fourth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well, unfortunately, there’s a very good chance Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is in much more peril than initially thought.

After Disney terminated filmmaker James Gunn, and Marvel halted production on the project, you’d figure it couldn’t get any worse for the twenty-fourth entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well, unfortunately, there’s a very good chance that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is in much more peril than initially thought.

During his appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday, not only did Dave Bautista reaffirm that Vol. 3 is “on permanent hold,” but he also openly admitted that he may not return, saying: “I don’t know if I want to work for Disney.” While it’s no secret that the actor isn’t very pleased with what the House of Mouse has done to James Gunn, the Washington, D.C. native had previously stated that he’ll still do what he’s legally obligated to. Evidently, though, this may no longer be the case.

Of course, this isn’t confirmation that Bautista will walk, but when Ross insinuated that the actor may not return for the threequel, he didn’t exactly fight back against the accusation too hard. You can watch the video for yourself via the link below, but it certainly sounds like he’s pretty close to departing the project.

Perhaps this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, though, as it’s been widely speculated for some time now that Bautista’s actively pursuing termination. After all, the actor did confirm yesterday that he’d indeed be returning in Avengers 4, despite having perished during the cataclysmic finale of Infinity War.

If we know anything for sure about Marvel, it’s that the studio doesn’t take too kindly to their content being spoiled. And revealing that Drax will somehow be resurrected next spring might have just been the final nail in the coffin for Bautista.

Of course, it might be too late to remove the Destroyer from Avengers 4 at this stage, but I can’t help but think if the actor does, in fact, continue to behave in a derisive manner, Disney and Marvel may be forced to scrap Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 altogether.
