Supergirl EPs Tease The Villains To Appear In Season 4

After managing to survive the formidable threat that was Reign last year, one can only ponder how the creative minds behind Supergirl can possibly craft a worthy new foe for the Maiden of Might. After managing to survive the formidable threat that was Reign last year, one can only ponder how the creative minds behind Supergirl can possibly craft a worthy new foe for the Maiden of Might. Naturally, we’re all looking toward Kara Zor-El’s Red Son-inspired doppelganger that’s residing over in Russia, but everyone over in Vancouver’s been pretty mum regarding that subject.

Fortunately, though, we do know that season 4’s big bad will be none other than Agent Liberty, who’ll be played by Juillard trained Smallville alumnus Sam Witwer. In fact, executive producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner recently told TV Line that his goal is to “foster division and turn America against the aliens that have emigrated.” In other words, expect for much in the way of allegory.

And if that weren’t enough, Rhona Mitra (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) will be showing up as Mercy Graves, whom lovers of comic books and animation will know as Lex Luthor’s right hand woman. As is to be expected, her past association “quickly puts her in conflict with Supergirl,” according to Rovner and Queller.

If we were to hazard a guess, Lena will be the only Luthor that Mercy will share the screen with for the time being, thus leading to Lex being name-dropped yet again. But in a perfect world, Tom Welling would be cast as Earth-38’s Lex and not be far behind.

Beyond that, there isn’t much else to discuss, but there’s a strong possibility that Green Lantern nemesis Parallax will be putting in an appearance before long as well because, don’t forget, episode 4.05 actually bears his namesake. As always, keep watching this space for more.

Supergirl returns for its fourth season on Sunday, October 14 on The CW.
