For what it’s worth, the writer and actor seemed enthusiastic about what they’ve come up with so far, telling Discussing Film:

“We have finished our draft and I’m really proud of it.”

While the Gotham actor stressed that he “can’t say anything else,” Stashwick also added that his main intention for the Suicide Squad sequel is “to tell an exciting story, deepening these characters.”

While Stashwick may be happy with his work as it is, it wouldn’t be a surprise to find out that his script will be tinkered with considerably before the Gavin O’Connor-helmed movie sees the light of day. As with last year’s Justice League, the first Suicide Squad underwent extensive reshoots, and in the wake of Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck’s reported departures from the franchise, it looks like Warner Bros. will be all the more nervous about this upcoming release being done right.

In any case, not much is currently known about the antiheroes’ next outing, but from the sound of things, that rumored appearance from Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is a no go, though the recent talk is that roles for Zatanna, Raven and Kara Zor-El could be on the cards.

Regardless of what the script has planned for us, it’s likely that we won’t be seeing Suicide Squad 2 in cinemas for quite some time, with shooting for the sequel pushed to late 2019, partly so that Margot Robbie can star in another Harley Quinn outing, Birds of Prey. In the meantime, DC still has a whole load of releases lined up, including Aquaman on December 21st, 2018, followed by Shazam! on April 5th, 2019, and Wonder Woman 1984 on November 1st of the same year.
