Chapter Two left John Wick with just one mission: escape New York City in one piece.
Doing so won’t be easy, of course, as the world’s deadliest assassins are already hot on his trail now that Keanu Reeves’ notorious hitman is officially blacklisted from the Continental Hotel. He did break their golden rule, after all.
Which brings us to John Wick: Parabellum, the third and presumably final outing in Lionsgate’s action series that finds Wick on the run from, well, everybody. Apparently, though, he’s given a generous one hour grace period before he’s excommunicated and every single assassin in NYC trains their sights on him in the hope of a big Wick-shaped payday.
So far, it’s sounding as if this going to be the most beautifully crazy installment of the franchise yet, and today, we’ve got a new photo for you to feast on. Seen in the gallery down below, it features Wick on a horseback, presumably being chased by someone who’s out to collect. Beyond that, it’s hard to say what might be going on here, but it’s a badass new still and certainly has us excited to see more.
From what we understand, Parabellum will also see the return of Ian McShane, Common, Ruby Rose and Lance Reddick, along with director Chad Stahelski, while new additions to the franchise include Halle Berry, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Anjelica Huston.
For more, here’s the official plot summary:
John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.
Speaking of that swanky chain of hotels where killers find sanctuary, we’re still awaiting further details on the television spinoff The Continental, but between that Reeves and Stahelski-produced show and John Wick: Parabellum’s May 17th release date, 2019 looks to be the year where the Wick franchise takes its world-building to the next level.
