So, while we wait for Kevin to helm an episode of Arrow, odds are that you’ll be excited nonetheless to learn of how he’s booked a return trip to National City for the fall. In fact, a recent Tweet he shared contained a picture letting us know that production on his latest contribution to the series began this week.

As you can see below, Smith has once again been given the honor of overseeing an episode of Supergirl, and since it’s shooting right now, there’s a good chance it’ll air right before the “Elseworlds” crossover arrives. Furthermore, Agent Liberty’s mask is teased, so there’s a strong possibility of the new big bad making an impact in said installment.

Funny enough, Sam Witwer, the very actor playing the aforementioned villain, responded by saying: “Looks vaguely familiar.” Despite that statement being somewhat innocuous, it wouldn’t be foolish to think the Smallville alum is indeed showing up in this one.

For more on what the immediate future holds, be sure to check out the synopsis for next week’s premiere, which has been titled “American Alien”:

HOPE VS. FEAR — Diving back into reporting, Kara (Melissa Benoist) welcomes a new cub reporter to CatCo. Meanwhile, James (Mehcad Brooks) and Lena (Katie McGrath) argue about James’ impending indictment for acting as the vigilante Guardian, while Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Brainy (Jesse Rath) struggle to get in sync at the DEO. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) is called into action when remnants of the anti-alien terrorist organization Cadmus try to assassinate pro-alien leaders, but their endgame turns out to be much more sinister than she expected. J’onn (David Harewood) relishes his peaceful new life, but an outing with an old friend causes him concern. Jesse Warn directed the episode with story by Robert Rovner & Jessica Queller and teleplay by Gabriel Llanas & Aadrita Mukerji (#401).

Supergirl returns for its fourth season on Sunday, October 14 on The CW.
