After months of rumors and speculation, a recent tweet from Mark Ruffalo had some fans thinking that we were finally going to hear the official title of next year’s Avengers 4.

The Hulk actor has a history of dropping major spoilers on MCU projects, and with this week’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the star stayed true to his reputation when he carelessly let slip one major reveal. In anticipation of the episode’s broadcast, Ruffalo tweeted a message to Fallon pleading for him to help clean up the mess he made:

“[Jimmy Fallon], I trust that you will cut my spoiler slip on the show tonight. That was ‘off the record’ homey. Please don’t get me in trouble with Marvel (Barry) again. DM me back. M”

Unfortunately for the fans who tuned in to the show just to hear this reveal, the Fallon team came through for Ruffalo and bleeped out the Avengers 4 title, even covering his mouth with a black bar to prevent lip-reading. In light of this latest tease, a few viewers felt let down, and took to Twitter to express their disappointment.

You could either take it as a sign of great marketing that people are this anxious to hear the real title of Avengers 4, or an indication that Marvel Studios’ fear of spoilers has gone a little too far. In particular, now that fans have been given so much time to formulate their own ideas for what the name of the film could and should be, you have to wonder if the official reveal will inevitably be a little anticlimactic. After all, what title could possibly be so mind-blowing that it warrants this many months of build-up?

Of course, we can surely all agree that official name of Avengers 4 (or is that Avengers: Annihilation?) is less important than the content of the film itself. And we’ll see if the movie can live up to some lofty expectations when it hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
